Powerful day at Omaha Beach where over 9,000 US service members lay buried. I stood stunned by the unexpected national anthem that began from a small ceremony being held. The entire area went eerily and respectfully silent when they realized what they were hearing.
The power of the unspoken words “gave proof to the night that our flag was still there” brought reassurance and inspiration and the finishing touches with “the land of the free and the home of the brave” soared through the air and whispered, that is what these military heroes died for. The crowds in France seemed to understand the significance of this powerful monument and tribute which made it even more moving and uniting.
To those that are frustrated or disenfranchised with our current political climate (and the many news outlets looking to capitalize on ratings with dangerous and divisive rhetoric)… WE are bigger than this moment.
